Evelyn Resor, 85 years, a 52 year resident of Mowrystown, passed away September 1, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Evelyn was born December 10, 1934 in Chapmanville, W.Va., daughter of the late Lewis and Estella (Thompson) Scarberry. Beside her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison D. Resor, Sr. whom she married on June 18, 1959; son, Harrison D. Resor, Jr.; grandson, Harrison D. Resor, III.; great grandson, Darian Powih; eight brothers, Willard, Alta, Lawrence, Joe, Gerald, Clyde, Bernard and Lowell Scarberry; one sister, Ethel Inman.
Evelyn was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also worked at Candle-Lite in Leesburg where she met her future husband, "Our Dad"! She enjoyed playing scrabble, cards and singing with her children. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. Rest in peace dear mom, nannan and we will see you again someday.
Evelyn is survived by four children, Debbie (Jay) McKee of Lynchburg, Roger (Kim) Resor of Lynchburg, Cecil (Lori) Resor of Mt. Orab, Susie (Jim) Wallace of Mowrystown; daughter-in-law, Donna Resor of Mowrystown, fourteen grandchildren, Steve McKee, Kristy (McKee) Fawley, April (Resor) Taylor, David Resor, R.D. Resor, Faith (Resor) Powih, Paula Resor, Justin Resor, Bryant Resor, Elizabeth Resor, Trenidy Resor, Brenlyn Resor, Brandy (Wallace) Gadwa, Amy (Wallace) Green; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Harold Doug Scarberry of Chapmanville W.VA.; two sisters, Lucille Scarberry of Chapmanville, W.VA. and Lorene Pickering of Cleveland, OH.;several, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her dog, "Sheila" who was by her side till the end.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Duane Newton will officiate with burial following in the Mowrystown Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home. Social distancing will be observed.
