Evelyn H. Shelton, 96 years old formerly of Hillsboro, died Monday, October 04, 2004 at the West Lafayette Rehabilitation Center in Lafayette, Ohio.
She was born April 26, 1908 at Rainsboro, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carey and Vertelle Mahan Holladay.
She was a nurse and business manager at Highland District Hospital. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading, and church activities.
She was united in marriage on December 23, 1925 to Charles C. Shelton, who preceded her in death on June 28, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and John Cowne, grandson, Ronald Alan McElhaney, brother, Wendell Holladay of Greenville, Tennessee, and sisters, Elsie Hamilton of Seattle and Betty Collins of Hillsboro.
Evelyn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and David McElhaney of Coshocton, Ohio, a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Bob Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio, 5 grandchildren, Gary Pat Cowne of London, Steve Euvona Cowne of Dothan, Alabama, Kenneth McElhaney of Coshocton, Dwayne Carol McElhaney of Coshocton, Evelyn McElhaney of Columbus, Ohio, 6 great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at the Convenience of the Family. Burial will follow in the New Market Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
