Fred S. Knauff, 75 years of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday November 1, 2021.
He was born in Highland County on February 28, 1946, the son of the late Maxie H. and Leah Jean (Puckett) Knauff.
Fred attained so many positive characteristics and attributes, throughout his life, it's hard to condense a list, down to just a few short words.
Fred's best quality was the love he exhibited, to his family. Amongst the love he displayed for his family, he demonstrated so much care and compassion, for his friends and people within the community. Fred loved God, and nevertheless, treasured his dogs, Rusty & Jake.
Fred was a veteran of the United States Army. He spent most of his life living in Sinking Spring. Fred worked for MEAD corporation for 37 years. During these 37 years, he farmed daily, and prided himself on being a fulltime farmer. He was a 4H advisor for Junior Farmers, he volunteered at his Local Fire Department, and best of all, he instilled integrity, fairness, honesty, and morality, throughout his biological and extended family.
Fred's spirituality was an important aspect, he cultivated and encouraged, throughout his life. Fred always said, "he felt closest to God when he was out in the field farming." Fred was a great man, and wonderful husband, an incredible father, and the most, amazing, grandfather/great grandfather, anyone could ask for.
I would say, the best narrative of Fred is, "he was a man of few words," but these few words, may describe him best.
Fred is survived by his wife, Janet C. (Myers) Knauff; three sons, Derrick (Mary) Knauff of Sinking Spring, Darrin Knauff of Hillsboro and Devin Knauff of Sinking Spring; two stepsons, Brian (Chrishana) Carroll and Brandon (Lacee) Carroll both of Peebles, stepdaughter, Catherine Carroll of Seaman; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, John Dale Knauff of Hillsboro and Michael E. Knauff of Hillsboro; two sisters, Kathy (Tom) Caldwell of Hillsboro and Christy (David) Snider of Hillsboro; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
