G. Wayne Swezig

August 11, 1941 — March 24, 2002

Dr. G. Wayne Swezig, 60 years of Richmond, Kentucky, died unexpectedly at his residence.

He was born at Hillsboro, Ohio on August 11, 1941 the son of Grover and Leona Thackston Swezig.

Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one sister Emma Evelyn Swezig

He was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Richmond, Kentucky, Member of the Free & Accepted Masons and Scottish Rite in Kentucky.

A 1960 Graduate of Georgetown High School; B. Mus. Ed., Murray State University; M.A.Ed., Murray State University: M.B.A., University of Dayton; Ed. S., University of Toledo; Ph.D., Miami University;

Wayne taught school at Crittenden County Schools; Secondary Principal, Hamersville Local Schools; Director, Hopewell Regional Special Education District; Elementary Principal, Bethel-Tate Local Schools; Assistant Superintendent, Trotwood-Madison City Schools; Superintendent, Lebanon City Schools; from 1984 till present he was a full Professor in the Education Administration and Counseling Department at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky,

He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Leona and David Parks of Union City Tennessee; one uncle Anderson Thackston of Hillsboro, two nephews, David Parks & Darrin Parks, one niece Kacee Parks all of Tennessee and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Wally Rendel officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugartree Ridge Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at 4:00 P.M. at the University Chapel at Eastern Kentucky University at Richmond, Kentucky.

Memorials may be made to the Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 W. Walnut, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133 or the 1st Christian Church in Richmond, Kentucky.
