Gary Wayne Barnett

Gary Wayne Barnett, 74 of Leesburg, passed away Monday June 14, 2021.

Gary was born December 20, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Cassie and Geneva Lorene (Blair) Barnett.

Gary was a member of the Hillsboro House of Worship, and retired from General Motors after 32 years of service.

Gary graduated from Leesburg High School in 1966. Gary started the Cross Country team at the Fairfield High School and was coach for 10 years. Gary coached Tee Ball and Little League Basketball. Gary was a member of the Ohio River Road Runner's Club. Gary was an avid runner who loved the 6.2 event and participated in triathlons. Gary ran to live, and lived to ride his Harley's.

Gary is survived by his wife, Diana (Howard) Barnett, which were married on October 23,1971, his sons, Beecher Barnett of Leesburg and Brandon (Erik Martin) Barnett of Louisville, KY, grandchildren, Taylor Martin, Bryce Martin, Zayne Martin, Ayden Barnett, Jax Martin-Barnett and Lexi Martin-Barnett, brother, Earl Lee Barnett of Highland, sisters, Edith Marie (Roger) Grimsley and Carol Ann (Dan) Ridgeway both of Leesburg, sister-in-law, Joyce Fridley of Hillsboro and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be 11:00am Saturday June 19, 2021 at the Leesburg Friends Church, 149 South Street, Leesburg, OH 45135. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg.

Visitation will be 5:00pm to 8:00pm Friday June 18, 2021 at Leesburg Friends Church.
