Gary R. Chain

Gary R. Chain, a beloved deputy sheriff and esteemed member of the community, passed away on August 1, 2024, in Hillsboro, OH. Born on January 21, 1956, in Washington Court House, OH. He is preceded by his parents, Charles and Betty Chain.
Gary dedicated his life to serving and protecting others, having held various roles in law enforcement, including EMS, Fire Fighter, Police Chief for the Village of Highland, and the Greene County Sheriff Department.

Known for his brave and selfless nature, Gary was a devoted husband to his wife Anna Chain and a loving father to his children Matthew (Heather) Morris of Miamisburg, Clyde Morris of Hillsboro, Gabbrelle (Mike) Jordan of Cuba, and Karina (Rob) Hatfield of Chillicothe.; 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother, Steve (Shelly) Chain of Leesburg and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He shared his passion for the outdoors with his family and friends, often regaling them with his captivating storytelling while fishing and hunting.

Gary's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His unwavering commitment to upholding justice and his infectious spirit will be dearly missed by all who were touched by his presence.

The graveside service to honor Gary's remarkable life will be 2:00 PM Thursday August 8, 2024 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg, where friends, family, and colleagues will come together to celebrate his legacy and pay their final respects to a true hero. In his honor, let us remember the impact he made in our lives and the community he served with such dedication and honor. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
