Gary Hammond, 64 years of West Portsmouth, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center.
He was born at Wolfe County, KY on April 30, 1946 the son of the late Alton and Lola Banks Hammond. Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson Gary, two brothers, Lonnie and Jim Hammond and three sisters, Christa Jenkins, Ruby Wallace and Thelma Hammond.
On November 2, 1963 he was united in marriage to
Barbara "Susie" Tong Hammond who survives, three sons Doug, Dwayne and Danny Hammond all of West Portsmouth, one daughter Lisa Howard of W. Portsmouth, two brothers Donald Hammond of Newtonsville, Jerry Hammond of West Portsmouth, eight sisters, Barbara Gumz of KY, Terri Pack of West Portsmouth, Patricia Bainter of Blue Creek, Brenda Jones of Martinsville, Jane Stamper of Springfield, Mary Montgomery of Sinking Spring, Marie Ernest of Xenia, Pricilla Barnett of Jeffersonville, ten grandchildren, Misty, Jessica, Jeremy, Savahanna, Zachary, Austin, Dylan, Katlyn, Brooke, and Levi, one great grandchild, Haylyn .
Funeral service will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Samantha Freewill Baptist Church, 10211 St. Rt. 72, Hillsboro, OH., where friends may call Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Wiley Perkins will officiating.
