Gary Earl Smith, 68 years of Hillsboro, passed away on Thursday July 13, 2023.
He was born in Hillsboro on July 17, 1954, the son of the late Earl Junior and Betty (Estle) Smith of Hillsboro.
Gary was a former President of the Hillsboro Eagles #1161 and Commander of the Hillsboro AMVETS #61.
Besides his mother, Gary is survived by his wife, Carla (Green) Smith, step-sons, Shon Green of Hillsboro, Jerry Green of Hillsboro and Shannon Green of Hillsboro, step-grandchildren, Christian Michael Green and Tyler Green, brothers, Tom (Donna) Smith of Hillsboro and Steve (Linda) Smith of Hillsboro, aunts, Emma Puckett of Hillsboro, Rosemary Smith of Hillsboro, Betty D. Smith of Lebanon and Donna J. Hasten of Mansfield, sister-in-laws, Amy Lynn Real of Greenfield and Dawn Marie Smart of Bainbridge, brothers-in-law, James Green of Eastgate, Donald Flora of Hillsboro; several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday July 19, 2023 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Carmel Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday July 18, 2023 at the Thompson Funeral Home.
