George O. Hopkins

George O. Hopkins, 95 years of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022.

George was born on January 22, 1927 at Belfast, OH., the son of the late Harley and Verda (Rhoads) Hopkins. Beside his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. (Smith) Hopkins on October 4, 1997; 5 brothers, Cecil, Clarence, Eugene "Gene", Archie and Burch Hopkins; one sister, Emma Hopkins.

George worked several years for the Smith and Hopkins Lumber Company in Hillsboro until his retirement.

George is survived by three daughters, Roberta (Norman) Carmean, Linda Fairley, Joan (Dale) Bayless all of Hillsboro; two sons, Oscar (Diane) Hopkins, Norman (Mary) Fent both of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Daphanie (Michael) Elmore, Mandie (Tracy) Workman, John Henry Jennings, Brenda (Jerry) Hopkins, Ralph (Christi) Hopkins, Kelly (Ron) Sockman, Brittany Bayless, Chad Fairley; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, January, 4, 2023, at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Pastor Greg Roberts will officiate with burial following in the Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
