George Timothy Maxie, 87 years of Hillsboro, died Sunday, December 9, 2007 at his residence.
He was born in Harrisburg, Ohio on November 26, 1920 the son of the late Hansford and Tibitha Duncan Maxie.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, where he was wounded in action in Belgium, while serving in General Patton?s Third Army in the Infantry Division. He retired from the Juvenile Detention Center in Chillicothe. He was a member of the Hillsboro AMVETS Post #61, DAV, Hillsboro F.O.E. Aerie #1161 Greenfield F.O.E. Aerie #1325, Hillsboro VFW Post #9094, Bainbridge American Legion Post #14, and the Highland County Coon Hunters.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Janet Maxie, and five brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Delphia Sexton Maxie of Hillsboro, sons and daughters-in-law, Hershel Ray and Solweig Maxie of Washington Court House, Jerry W. and Loretta Maxie of Alcoa, Tennessee, daughter, Sandra Whaley of Hillsboro, sister, Marie Harris of Mowrystown, twelve grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in Rhoads Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
