George L. Pete Thorpe, 83 years of Winchester, died Sunday, June 29, 2003 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 13, 1920 the son of the late Linwood L. and Mary V. Bryant Thorpe.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Winchester Methodist Church, the Seaman VFW, and the Seaman American Legion Charles H. Eyre Post #633. He worked for Lever Brothers.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Thorpe, who passed away in 1995, two brothers, Myron Thorpe, Bernard Thorpe, and two sisters, Bernice Fowble, and Ruth Bradley.
He is survived by his step son, Donald Margaret Thorpe of Batavia, five brothers, Linwood L. Thorpe, Jr., James Thorpe, Edsel F. Thorpe, Allen Thorpe, Wayne Thorpe, all of Baltimore, Maryland, two sisters, Nona Eversol of Baltimore, Maryland, Etta Fifer of Winchester, three step grandchildren, Donna Thorpe, David Jodi Thorpe, and Paul Judi Thorpe, five step great grandchildren, Joshua, Krista, Samuel, Olivia, and Emily, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bradford-Sullivan Funeral Home in Winchester with Rev. John Waugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Winchester Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Bradford-Sullivan Funeral Home.
