Gerald Jerry Schirmer, 80 years of Cincinnati, died Monday, May 13, 2002 at the Anderson Mercy Hospital in Cincinnati.
He was born in New Richmond, Ohio on October 8, 1921 the son of the late Charles and Clara Longhauser Schirmer.
He worked for General Motors for thirty years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Milford Church of Christ and the Cameron Ellis Post #242 of Winchester. He was a volunteer fireman in Wayne Township. He was a giver- no one ever left his home without him giving them something. He was a giver of great love to people, great courage and determination. He was not only a gentle man, but a gentleman, said by his neighbors.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Schirmer, one brother, Arnold Schirmer, and two sisters, Martha Behymer, and Agnes O?Dell.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Denny Schirmer of Cincinnati, two sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Marilyn Schirmer, Jr. of Hamersville, Ohio, Terry Schirmer of Bethel, two daughters, Cindy Schirmer of Milford, Lorra Schirmer of Bethel, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Virginia Schirmer of Mt. Orab, Charles and Sue Schirmer of Hillsboro, two sisters, Catherine Bene of New Richmond, Cecelia Weisinhahn of Batavia, two grandchildren, Gerald C. Holly Schirmer, III, Sheri A. Roland Lewis, and four great grandsons, Jacob Lewis, Gerald C. Schirmer IV, Clayton Schirmer, and John Schirmer.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Winchester Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev. Dan Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Fork Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00 till 9:00 P.M. at the Bradford-Sullivan Funeral Home in Winchester.
