Gertrude Douglas Countryman, 96 years of Peebles, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Highland District Hospital.

She was born on April 17, 1915 in Highland County the daughter of the late Alec and Ella Ryan Douglas. Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John B. Countryman, two sons, John Lee and Kevin M. two grandsons, Charlie Countryman, Ryan Dean Countryman, nine brothers and sisters, Noble Douglas, Mae Grover, Ashton Swisshelm, Ova Swisshelm, Lena Swisshelm, Ernest Swisshelm, Marie Kelly, Olga Fox, Florence Hilliard.

She was a member of the Peebles Church of Christ in Christian Union

She is survived by four sons and daughters in law; Charles Robert and Ada Countryman of Peebles, Gary D. and Pam Countryman of Dayton, Neil F. and Sharon Countryman of Chillicothe, Paul D. and Teresa Countryman of Peebles, two daughters and son in law; Constance Joy and Merle Dean Shoemaker of Peebles, Julia E. Countryman of Peebles, thirteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Dave Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow

in the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 noon till time of service at 2:00 PM at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
