Helen L. Downs, 84 years of Winchester, died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at the Adams County Hospital in West Union.
She was born in Adams County, Ohio on August 31, 1922 the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth L. Young Mahaffey.
She was a member of the Tranquility Community Church. She was an L.P.N. at the Adams County Hospital.
Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Downs, who passed away in 1991, one son, Gary Downs, one brother, Chester Mahaffey, and three sisters, Velma Butts, Beulah Hull, and Goldie Cline.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Alta Downs of Winchester, daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and David Staten of West Union, Mary Eyre of Englewood, Ohio, Joann and Dan Alspach of Wellington, Ohio, sister, Betty Grooms of West Union, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Lewis-Sullivan Funeral Home in Seaman with Raymond Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Fork Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Lewis-Sullivan Funeral Home.
