Helen Morgan Roe Hemmings, age 91 of Seaman, went to her heavenly home at 7:23 A.M. on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Oakview Retirement Home in Seaman. Mrs. Hemmings was born in Lewis County, Kentucky Head of Grassy July 15, 1920 to the late Emory and Hersie Bloomfield Morgan.
Helen worked for the shoe factory in Vanceburg, Kentucky and later Ripley, Ohio during WW II. She was a homemaker, housewife and farm operator of several years.
Helen came to know Jesus Christ as her savior when she was 19 years old. She was a member of the Winchester Baptist Church in Winchester, Ohio for 60 years.
Surviving Helen is one son and daughter-in-law; James Roe and Melissa of Milford, Ohio and three sisters; Thelma Dillow of Firebrick, Kentucky, Eva Mae Lewis of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Nancy West of Galion, Ohio.
Two granddaughters Jerusha Susanna and Louisa Kim Roe survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Kenneth Edward Roe 1965 and Benjamin Kyle Hemmings 1998.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the Winchester Baptist Church, 19089 St. Rt. 136 Winchester, Ohio, with Pastor Steve Bankhead and James Roe officiating. Burial will be at the Cherry Fork Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman. Visits may also be made from 9:00 till 10:00 A.M. at the Winchester Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be at the Cherry Fork Cemetery.
