Herbert Sowards

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Herbert Sowards, who left this earth on September 19, 2024.

Born on September 7, 1931, in Pikeville, KY., son of the late George and Gracie (Little) Sowards; he was also preceded in death by his wife, Julia (Green) Sowards.

Herbert attended the Sinking Spring Community Church; and throughout his life, touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering perseverance. His presence brought warmth and comfort to those fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will forever be cherished by all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.

Herbert is survived by his 3 children; son, Buddy (Diana) Sowards of Peebles, OH., daughters; Bonnie Sowards of Peebles, OH., Shirley (Mike) Thompson of Peebles, OH., 5 grandchildren; Shay, Cortnee, MaCade, Zach, Katelyn; 6 great grandchildren; Sylvia, Sawyer, Naomi, Max, Layla, Emmett; brothers; Claude, Clyde, Guy, Tilden, all of Peebles, OH., sister; Louise Hilterbran of Greenfield, OH., as well as several nieces, nephews and host of special friends.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Sinking Spring Community Church.

Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of service, Monday, September, 23, 2024 at the Sinking Spring Community Church.

Burial will follow in Washburn Cemetery.

In his final journey, may Herbert find peace and tranquility, knowing he was loved and will be dearly missed. May his memory be a source of comfort and solace to all who mourn his passing. Rest in peace, Herbert Sowards.
