Hershell Hanley

February 1, 1916 — March 30, 2014

Hershell Hanley, age 98 of Seaman, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown.

He was born in Fort Gay, West Virginia on February 1, 1916 the son of the late John and Lora Crabtree Hanley.

Hershell attended Seaman Methodist Church, was a US Army Veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of the American Legion and V.F.W., and a member of the Adams County Retired Teacher Association.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Zoya Hanley of Cincinnati; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Joe Spurlock of Seaman, Sally and Gene Toole of Seaman, and Lora and John Moore of Columbus; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his roommate, Ray L. Butt, Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Lewis-Sullivan Chapel in Seaman with Rev. Bill Kirby, Joe Spurlock, and Gene Toole officiating. Burial will follow in Winchester Cemetery with a military graveside service given by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
