Homer M. Webster, 86 years of Hillsboro, died Monday, January 25, 2010 at the Laurels of Hillsboro.
Homer was born April 12, 1923 in Fairfax, OH., the son of the late Thomas S. and Maude Mercer Webster. Beside his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Catherine E. Kirk.
Homer was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and while attending high school served an apprenticeship with the Shaw Shoe Repair in Hillsboro to become a shoe cobbler. After graduation, Homer entered the U.S. Navy and served his country during W.W. II. After returning home from the service, he went back to work for Lee Shaw in the shoe repair business. Upon Mr. Shaw?s death, Homer bought the business from the Shaw family and it became the Webster Shoe Repair where Homer operated the business until his death.
Homer was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, a lifetime member of the VFW Post #9094 and the American Legion Post #129 in Hillsboro.
On June 10, 1950 Homer was united in marriage to Betty Juillerat who survives. He is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Barbara Webster of Hillsboro, Don and Sue Webster of Greenfield, five grandchildren, Misty Haywood of South Carolina, Eileah Webster of Hillsboro, Shalena Webster of Hillsboro, Lainie Webster of Hillsboro, Jeremy Webster of Ada, OH.. three great grandchildren, Sara, Levi and Chet Haywood of South Carolina, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 29, 2010 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
John Porter will officiate services.
Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow with burial in the New Market Baptist Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
