Ira Dorwell Waugh known to his family and friends as "Ben", 91 years of age. Passed away peacefully on September 10, 2011 at Brown Memorial Home in Circleville where he had been a resident since May, 2007.

Ben was born on August 9, 1920 in Pike County to Henry and Alice Lighttle Waugh. He lived in that area and in Xenia until 1952 when he moved to Jamestown. From James town he moved to Circleville in 2004.

Ben is survived by his son Ronald Linda Waugh of Williamsport, two grandsons, Andy Becky Waugh of Pataskala and Ray Hazel Waugh of Cold Spring, KY, Three Great Grandchildren, Molly, Brandon, and Becca Waugh of Pataskala and a sister, Norma Tom Morris of Hillsboro. He has several nieces and nephews. Ben is also survived by two very special friends, Sam Morgan of Xenia and John Fent of Jamestown.

Beside his parents, Ben is preceded in death by his wife, Marj , brothers, John, Charlie, Homer, Harley and Rob and sisters Goldie and Mary and his beloved beagle, Charlie.

Ben worked for Jerry Matthews in Xenia as a Carpenter. He could look at almost any item and build it. He took great pride in his work and liked to share his talent with friends. He also had done farm work and worked in a bakery.

Ben married "the love of his life", Ethel Marjorie 'Marj" Pendell on May 9, 1942. They were married 62 years when she passed away in August, 2004.

Ben was a World War II Veteran. He served from 1942 to 1946 in the Army as a cook. He was stationed In Virginia and Maryland.

Ben was a member of the North Side Christian Church in Jamestown.

Funeral services for Ira, D. Waugh Ben will be Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at Thompson Funeral Home, 241 E. Main St., Hillsboro, OH. Visiting hours will be 10:00 AM till 12:00 noon. He will be buried in Locust Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Berger Hospice, 1170 N. Court St., Suite B, Circleville, OH 43113.

The services will b e conducted by Rev. Jerry James, Pastor of the Williamsport Church of Christ in Christian Union.
