James D. "Jim" Chambers, 84 years of the Belfast Community, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Adams County, Ohio on December 29, 1924 the son of the late Fred and Ethel Grace Hill Chambers. Beside his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale,
Roger and Denny.
He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ, Jackson Township Trustee, thirty four years on the Highland County Water Board, ASC Committee Member, US Army Veteran serving in WWII and a Life Member of the DAV Adams County Chapter #7.
He is survived by his wife Martha White Chambers whom he married on March 20, 1948, two daughters and sons in law, Cynthia and Robert Jones of Hillsboro, Edith and Gary Heaton of Seaman, one brother and sister in law, Paul and Marilyn Chambers of Mason, five grandchildren, Teresa Layne Garringer of Jamestown, Colleen John Barney of Hillsboro, Shannon Heaton of Hillsboro, Andrew Kim Heaton of Hilliard, Timothy Amanda Heaton of Lexington, Kentucky and 8 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home with Bill Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the Prospect Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
