James F. Stevens, 75 years of Sinking Spring, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at his residence.
He was born at Irvin, Kentucky on February 23, 1926 the son of James and Mary Magelene McDowell Stevens.
He was a Veteran serving in the United States Air Force, retired from Murphy?s Motor Freight Company as a truck driver, and a member of Teamster Local #987.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary Stevens, one daughter, Barbara Sue Stevens and one sister Katherin Sams.
He is survived by his beloved Wife Alena Stevens whom he married on August 1, 1959, for 42 years, four daughters and son-in-law, Sharon Stevens at home, Carol Rhoads of Hillsboro, Doris Clark of Martinsville, Mary and Ronnie Myers of Peebles, one sister, Lois Moreland of Fruitland, FL, six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring with Pastor Archie Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery with Military Graveside services by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Saturday evening from 6:00 till 9:00 P.M. at Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
