James Stone, 93 years of Peebles, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at the Hillcrest Nursing Center in Peebles.
He was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky on January 29, 1912 the son of the late Sanford Jackson and Iva Jane Thomas Stone, Jr.
He was a member of the Peebles Church of Christ in Christian Union. He was a minister in the Church of Christ in Christian Union, pastored a number of churches, and served on various committees.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Ryan Stone, who passed away in 1932, second wife, Rena Williams Stone, who passed away in 1998, four brothers, Robert, Tom, Frank, and Lloyd, and three sisters, Tilley, Georgia, and Laura.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Huffman Stone of Peebles, sons and daughters-in-law, Lee and Barbara Stone of Peebles, Bill and Ramona Stone of Winchester, four grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Peebles Church of Christ in Christian Union with Dave Hopkins and Richard Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles.
