Jesse Earl Chuck Gordley

October 5, 1914 — June 9, 2005

Jesse Earl Chuck Gordley, 90, died at home on June 9, 2005 in Jacksonville, FL after a battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Scioto County, OH on October 5, 1914 to Lucius and Safronia Williams Gordley. Chuck was married for 65 years to Mary Robertson Gordley, who died on September 1, 2002. He was a child of God and a member of Celebration Lutheran Church.

Chuck was a man of many talents and never encountered a task he couldn't master. He was the owner of Chuck's Body Shop in Xenia, OH for many years. He was also an avid sportsman enjoying fishing, hunting, and trap shooting.

He is survived by three children; Selva Murrell of Jacksonville; Sharon Calvin Stoops of Elkton, FL; and John Karen Gordley of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Cynthia James McDermott of the Woodlands, TX, Douglas Stoops of Gibson, TN, Daron Leslie Murrell of Jacksonville, FL, Meredith James Robertson of Houston, TX, J. Andrew Gordley of Colorado Springs, CO, and Kyle Jill Gordley of Pearland, TX. His cherished great-grandchildren, Megan, Sean and Patrick McDermott, Zachary Stoops, Joshua and Emily Robertson, Dylan and Jesse Murrell, and Ryan Gordley.

The visitation wil be held at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday evening, June 13, 2005. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005 in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Dale Kaster will officiate. Mr. Gordley will be buried beside his wife, Mary, in Locust Grove Cemetery in Adams County, OH at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2005. A visitation will be held at Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, 119 Rarden Road in Peebles, OH beginning at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Celebration Lutheran Church, 810 Roberts Road, Jacksonville, FL 32259 or Community Hospice of N.E. Florida, 4114 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. Arrangements under the direction of Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Funeral Home; 11801 San Jose Blvd.
