Jewell McCane Hunter, age 91 of Independence, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at her residence.
She was born in Lewis County, Kentucky on December 3, 1922 the daughter of the late Robert and Sophia (Gilbert) McCane.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Hunter; one son, David Hunter; and one daughter, Carol Edmunds.
Jewell was a bible study teacher for over 40 years and a mother of three sets of twins.
She is survived by two sons, Jim and Setsuko Hunter of California and Dennis Hunter of New Mexico; two daughters, Judy Zornes of Independence, Kentucky and Barbara Lugowski of Showlow, Arizona; one brother, Dickie McCane of Peebles; three sisters, Thelma Campbell of Peebles, Gracie Johnson of Leesburg, and Shirley Abbott of Seaman; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with Ken Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Jacktown Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
