Jim Mitchell, 89 years of Peebles, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at his residence.
He was born in Peebles, Ohio on March 22, 1921 the son of the late William and Mattie Greene Mitchell.
Jim was a member of the Peebles Church of God, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Disabled Veterans, and the National Riffle Association.
He is survived by his wife; Audrey Matheny Mitchell of Peebles whom he married on March 3, 1947, one son; Robert Mitchell of Piketon, one daughter; Cheryl Mitchell of Peebles, three brothers; Leslie, Larry, and Garry Mitchell all of Peebles, three sisters; Elva Schoenberger of Cincinnati, Tillie Brewer of Harveysburg, Ohio, and June Smith of Peebles, two grandsons; Todd and Robbie, and one great granddaughter; Rylee.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Peebles Church of God with Harold Keaton and Ron Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military graveside services given by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Sunday from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at Peebles Church of God.
Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles is in charge of the arrangements.
