Joanne Hopkins, 94 years of Hillsboro, passed away on Sunday March 21, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Joanne was born in Samantha, Ohio on June 22, 1926, the daughter of the late Raymond H. and Grace (Haynie) Smith. Besides her parents, she is also preceded by husband, Eugene C. "Gene" Hopkins on December 15, 2005; two sisters, Phyllis Hatfield and Linda Milburn; brother, Larry Smith.
Joanne graduated from New Vienna High School; member of the Hillsboro 1st United Methodist Church; assisted her husband, Gene and his business partner Smitty in the operation of the Smith-Hopkins Lumber Company in Hillsboro.
Joanne is survived by her daughters, Diana (Donnie) Carey of Hillsboro and Debbie (Jim) Penn of Cincinnati, son, Chris (Jackie) Hopkins of Hillsboro, seven grandchildren, Tobi (Michael) Gulley, Mary Jo (Jim) Singler, Tammy Harrison, A.J. Penn, Janice Rulon, Tiffany (R. J.) Blankenship and Kristy (Tyler) Rhodes, five great grandchildren, Dakota Denier, Jordan Rulon, Randee Blankenship, Penn and Harley Singler, sister, Betty Reno of Hillsboro and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 24, 2021 at the Convenience of the Family at the Thompson Funeral Home In Hillsboro.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Hillsboro.
