Joe Lewis Ogden was born on December 4, 1934, in Highland County, Ohio, in New Market, to S. Nelson and Beatrice Bare Ogden.
He passed away Sunday May 19th 2019, at the Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. He was 84 years old. He has lived near Sugartree Ridge, Ohio all his life, except for the three years he spent in the US Army, most of the time in Germany, he played basketball, baseball and football while in Germany. He retired years ago from the Concord Township Trustees.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two nieces, Julianne Ogden and Peggy Thomas, and two sisters in law, Patty Ogden and Ramona Ogden.
He is survived by one daughter, Amy (Rueben) Finley, One sister, Joyce (Donald) Sells of Indiana, three brothers, Jerry of Columbus, Julius of Grove City, and James (Carol) of Sugartree Ridge. Several nieces and nephews: Jo Heather (Scott) Arnett, JD (Darlene) Ogden, Jeremiah (Nancymae) Ogden, Rachelle (Mike) Galvin, Christopher (Katherine) Sells, Stephanie (Brian) Spear, Jeff (Kim) Ogden, Pam (Bill) Kemp, Penny Ogden, Lisa (Mark) Williams, and Mark (Mary) Ogden. And special friend and caregiver, Vicki Russell.
Joe has had the love of the land in his heart, after working in a factory to purchase his first farm, he has been a farmer all his life. He was ready and waiting every spring to start the planting and, in the fall anxious to start the combines to get going to harvest his crops.
He was an avid trapper and hunter and very successful at that!
At Joe's request, he is being cremated, and there will be no public service. Joe was a very private man.
He will be sadly missed by family and friends!
