Joe Jackson Preston

Joe Jackson Preston, 91 years of Seaman, passed away on Thursday August 8, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in Dayton.
He was born in Paintsville, Kentucky on December 14, 1921, the son of the late Forest Buchanan and Grace Rice Preston. He was also preceded in death by two brothers Ralph and Tom Preston and two sisters, Marguerite Jones and Polly Gorman.
Joe was in the U.S. Navy and a World War II Veteran, a Merchant Marine, was in the Ohio National Guard, a member of Peebles Baptist Church, the Highland County VFW and graduated from Paintsville High School.
He is survived by his wife, of 65 years; Alberta Stone Preston, whom he married on June 19, 1948 of Seaman, daughter Marilyn Clifford Gross of Seaman, two grandchildren Jeffery Alexander Gross and Matthew Buchanan Patricia Shyanna Gross and two great grandchildren Abigail McKenzie Gross and Aidan Joseph Gross.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. on Monday August 12, 2013 at the Peebles Baptist Church. Military Rites will be conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard. Burial will follow at New Market Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday August 11, 2013 at the Thompson Funeral Home.
