John R. Evans, 98 years of Hillsboro, passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2013 at the Highland District Hospital.
He was born in Highland County on August 19, 1915, the son of the late Samuel and Nina Blanche Hiestand Evans. John was also preceded in death by his wife Roma Jane Hull Evans in 1993, one Sister, Marjorie K. Evans, two sons Robert Jr. and Mark Allen Evans and grandson Eric Evans.
John had worked for the Carnation company for fifteen years, Columbus and Southern Electric Company for 20 years, Township Trustee for twelve years, Highland County Commissioner for twelve Years, John was a member of First Families of Highland County, Highland County Century Club, Highland County Coon Hunters Club, Highland County Historical Society, Highland County Farm Bureau, Fraternal Order of Eagles #1161, Bainbridge American Legion Post # 14, Ohio Township Trustee Association, National Rifleman Association, was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and a Army Veteran serving in WWII.
John is survived by two sons John Larry Margarethe Evans of Milford and Donald Lee Nancy Evans of South Carolina, two daughters Suzanne Jon Hapner of Hillsboro and Brenda Marshall Thompson of Hillsboro, grandchildren, John David Evans, Kim and Jeff Kirby, Robert Evans, Priscilla Hapner, Jonda and Richard Yengo, Jon Evans Hapner, Gary and Stephanie Evans, Christina Evans, Douglas and Hattie Lovedahl, Ronda Knoblauch, Great Grandchildren, Austin Jacob Evans, Roma, Robert and Rachel Yengo, Emily and John James Kirby, Michael Hapner, Morgan and Andy Gilliland, Clinton Evans, Tyler Lovedahl, Kody Knoblauch, Emily and John James Kirby, great great grandchildren, Mylah and Victoria Adkins, Zoe,
Heather, Andy Gilliland and Destanee Lowe, Aariyah Evans and Joshua Sandlin.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM , Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Highland County Honor Guard
Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Thompson Funeral Home.
