John H. Groppenbacher, 85 years of Hillsboro, died Sunday, August 14, 2005 at his residence.
He was born at Wheatland, Wyoming on November 29, 1919 the son of Arthur and Floris
Groppenbacher.
He was a member of the Harriett Missionary Church, Highland County Senior Citizen where he played the violin with the Senior Citizens Band for several years and a veteran of WWII serving with the US Navy, a life long farmer and retired from Gross-Feibel.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife Helen Barker Groppenbacher whom he married on November 8, 1940, daughter and son-in-law, Floris Jane and George E. Chambers of Hillsboro, one sister Mary Lou Quirk of New York, seven grandchildren, Larry Cummings of Kansas, David Cummings of Texas, Robert Becky Cummings of Kansas,
Linda Sue Robert Leach of Colorado, Orlando Wilma Chambers of Berea, Kentucky, Willa Chambers of Chicago, Illinois, George Travis Chambers of North Carolina, six great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Salyers officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Thursday evening form 5:00 till 7:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
