John L. McDermott, 88 years of Hillsboro, passed away on Friday April 22, 2106 at the Highland District Hospital.
He was born in Lynchburg on May 27, 1927, the son of the late James and Clarice (Fawley) McDermott. Besides his parents, he was also preceded by three brothers, Joe, Don and Jerry McDermott.
John retired from A.E.P.
John is survived by his wife, Helen McDermott, whom were married on May 26, 1948, two daughters, Kathleen (Joe) Smith of Hillsboro and Kris (Steve) Wilkerson of Denver, CO, brother, James McDermott, III of George, sister, Nina Bumgarner of Hillsboro, two grandchildren, Matthew (Mandy) Robertson and Kate Wilkerson and one great grandson, Grayson Robertson.
On behalf of John's wishes, he is to be cremated.
