John Robert Murphy, 87 years, of Seaman passed away at the Oakview Retirement Home in Seaman on Monday January 2, 2017.
He was born December 5, 1929 in May Hill, OH the son of the late Ray & Mary Alta (Wylie) Murphy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Grace (Storer) Murphy on December 5 of 2011.
John was a lifelong farmer, bricklayer and a retired US tobacco inspector. He was a member of the Seaman Church of Christ as well as a 62-year member of the Brick Layers Union in Dayton, OH.
He is survived by his daughter Sue (Harold) Emery of Seaman; three brothers-In-Law, Donald Vanzant of Hillsboro, Donald Storer of Peebles, Ronnie Storer of Waverly; sister-in-Law, Ruth Storer of Peebles; sister, Lois Hiestand of Michigan; two grandchildren, Angie (Matt) Jamison of Peebles, Kyle (Sarah) Emery of Delaware, OH; three great-grandchildren, Faith and Emmalyn Jamison, Amelia Emery.
Services will be held 1:00 PM on Friday January 6, 2017 at the Lewis Sullivan Funeral Home in Seaman, with a burial to follow at Tranquility Cemetery.
Friends and Family may call on Thursday January 5, 2017 from 5:00 till 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Donations can be made to the Seaman Church of Christ or Hospice of Hope.
