John T. Reed

Rev. John T. Reed, 89 years of Hillsboro, died on Sunday April 7, 2013 at his residence.
He was born in Monroe, Louisiana on June 24, 1923, the son of the late Manluff and Sally Owenna "Dottie" Elliott Reed. Besides his parents he was preceded by his son Tommy Reed, three sisters, Mary Miller, Martha Miller and Nina Reed and two brothers, Albert and Calvin Reed.
John was a carpenter and ministered for 54 years. He helped found and built the present Church of God at Cleveland, TN, Hillsboro Church Of God in Hillsboro and help build the Hillsboro Post Office. John pastored several churches in the area, his first being in Blue Creek. He also did evangelical work in Indiana, Tennessee, Florida, and Ohio.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie Powell Reed, whom he married on June 4, 1948. He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Marilyn Powell of Antioch, CA, Leona Grace and Mark Huddleston of Glasgow, KY, Mary Moore Reed of New Vienna, OH and Rebecca Rose and Mike Larsen of Jemison, AL. Nine grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Hillsboro Church of God, 5760 U.S. Route 62 South, Hillsboro. Kim Zornes and Dan Hess will officiate with burial to follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sinking Spring.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until time of service at Hillsboro Church of God.
