John Rhoads, Jr., 74 years of Hickory Hills Lake, Hillsboro, died Saturday, September, 1, 2007 at his residence.
He was born in Highland County on October 28, 1932 the son of the late John and Carrie Inez Davidson Rhoads.
He retired in 1998 from the Latham Stone Quarry where he worked as a heavy equipment operator, veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean Conflict.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Tong, Helen Frye and Mary Waits; two brothers, Paul and Howard Rhoads.
He is survived by his wife Ethel Parker Rhoads whom he married on January 2, 1954; two sons and daughter-in-law, John ?John Boy? Rhoads of Hillsboro, Robert Eric and Kathleen Rhoads of Hillsboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ron Kelley of Hillsboro, Debra and Merle King of Hillsboro; two brothers, Robert Judith Rhoads of Peebles, Charles Betty Rhoads of Highland; four sisters, Flossie Cliff Henson of Leesburg, Norma Stafford of Bainbridge, Ann Jerry Cline of Hillsboro, Dorothy Alan Coleman of Greenfield; eight grandchildren, Cristy Justin Brown, Deanna Kelley, Timothy Tara King, Jerry Amberley King, Casey King and Fiance? Angela Hauser, Joshua Rhoads, Brittany Rhoads, Christina Marie Rhoads and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
