Johnnie C. Thompson, 67 years of Leesburg, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Christ Hospital.
He was born May 23, 1943 in Clinton County, OH., the son the late Arthur and Flora Helterbran Thompson. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers Ralph, Paul, Elzza and Floyd Orva Thompson, three sisters Dorothy Burchett, Kathleen Brychta and Pauline O'Bryant.
Johnnie was a 1961 graduate of Franklin High School in Locust Grove, served his country in the U.S. Army and retired in 1996 from General Motors after 30 years of service.
On July 14, 1968 he was united in marriage to June Miller Thompson who survives. He is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law Darren and Faith Thompson of Leesburg, one daughter and son-in-law Carol and David Waits of Hillsboro, three grandchildren Brittany Waits, Shania Thompson and Austin Thompson, three brothers Kenneth Thompson of Texas, Forest Thompson of Hillsboro, Bob Thompson of Highland, two sisters Stella Ward of Locust Grove, Marlene Foster of Locust Grove, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Hillsboro Church of God, 5760 U.S. 62 South, Hillsboro, OH..
Rev. John Maggard will officiate with burial and Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sinking Spring.
Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Hillsboro Church of God.
Memorials may be made to the Leesburg Life Squad, 200 South Street, Leesburg, OH 45135.
