Joseph Edwin Penn , 86 years of Hillsboro, died Friday, June 16, 2006.
He was born at Bainbridge, Ohio on October 25, 1919 the son of the late Lloyd and Amy Clyburn Penn. Beside his parents he was preceded by one son Jon Penn, one sister Emily Benner,
Joe served his County from 1939 thru 1970, retiring as Lt. Commander, serving in WWII, Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Era,
He was a member of the St. Mary?s Catholic Church, F.&A.M. Lodge #196, Bainbridge, Luther Giffin American Legion Post #14, Bainbridge, B.P.O.E. Lodge #361 Hillsboro, F.O.E. Aerie #1161 Hillsboro.
On November 18, 1977 he was united in marriage to Ruth Sharkey Penn who survives. He is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law Judy and Carl Walz of Cincinnati, one son Randy Penn of Dayton, one step daughter Meg Sharkey of Raleigh, NC, three step sons and daughter-in-law, Mike and Karen Sharkey of New York, Tim Sharkey of Marietta, GA, Matt Sharkey of Greer, SC, 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Father Mike Paraniuk officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at the Bainbridge Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 9:00 A.M until 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary?s Catholic Church.
Family suggests memorials to the Ohio Veterans Home, 2003 Veterans Blvd., Georgetown Ohio 45121 or the Alzheimer?s Association Greater Cincinnati Chapter, 644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
