Joseph "Joe" Temple, 80 years of Hillsboro passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at his residence surrounded by family and friends.
Joe was born June 28, 1935 in Hillsboro, son of the late J. J. and Nellie (Harshbarger) Temple. He was united in marriage to Ramona Joy Brown August 3, 1958, who preceded him in death on September 28, 2007.
He is survived by daughter Jennifer S. (Darrell) Branham of Hillsboro; J. David (Amber) Temple of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Alex McFarland, Brandon (Millie) Temple, Gavin Temple, Hayleigh Swayne; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wayne and Sylvia Brown of Green Valley, AZ; niece Cindy Applegate of Seaman, three nephews Don Brown of OR., Tony Skujins of AZ., Alex Brown of OR.; several cousins and a host of friends.
Joe was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and also attended the Union Church of Christ; member of the NRA. He retired after 32 years of teaching and administration in elementary education in 1989, where he taught and coached in New Market and Pricetown and became an administrator for the Hillsboro City Schools serving at Marshall. He then spent a number of years as a real estate agent with Donald E. Fender Realty.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Burial will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
Family requests memorials to the Highland County Humane Society, 9331 State Route 124, Hillsboro, OH 45133.
