Joyce M. King, 84 years of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday May 15, 2021.
Joyce was born on June 1, 1936 in Hillsboro, Ohio the daughter of the late Estel and Inez (Whitley) Wilson. Beside her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by two brothers Donald and Early Wilson; and two sisters Janet Hibberd and Shirley Peters.
Joyce was a 1955 Graduate of Hillsboro High School. She then went on to receive her Bachelor's degree from Wilmington College in 1959, and her Master's Degree in 1964 from Morehead State. Joyce was and English Teacher at the Greenfield and New Richmond School Systems; a Guidance Counselor at Hillsboro City Schools and retired from Laurel Oaks.
Joyce was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for many years. Joyce was one of the Founders of Little Lamb Christian Preschool, serving 34 years on the board. Joyce served on the board of the Highland Christian School.
Joyce along with her husband Pat owned Timberlane Sports and Signs in Hillsboro.
On July 31,1976 Joyce was united in marriage to Patrick "Pat" King whom survives. Joyce and Pat were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer (Matthew) Petersen of Miamisburg; 2 loving grandchildren, Evelyn and Corwin Petersen; brothers Marvin Wilson of Hillsboro, Larry (Shirley) Wilson of Sardinia, Curtis (Cinda) Wilson of Hillsboro, and John (Sharon) Wilson of Lexington, KY; sister Shari (Earl) Silva of Richmond, KY; beloved nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Services will be held 12:00 P.M. Friday May 21, 2021 at the Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 W. Walnut St. Hillsboro, OH 45133. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the Hillsboro Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery.
Family requests memorials to the Little Lamb Christian Preschool, 155 W. Walnut St., Hillsboro, OH 45133 or Butler Springs Christian Camp, 3701 State Route 41, Hillsboro, OH 45133.
