Julia R. Sowards, 77 years of Peebles, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at the Hospice of Hope, Ohio Valley Inpatient Center.
She was born in Pike County on March 31, 1935 the daughter of the late Edward and Anna Caplinger Green. Beside her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers, Eldon, Earl, Lucas, Edward, Carl, Frank "Bud" Green; five sisters, Jessie Ritchie, Clarice Trimble, Madge Trimble, Ruth Diehl and Maude Thompson.
Julia attendded the Sinking Spring United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband whom she married on November 13, 1954, Herb Sowards of Peebles; one son and daughter in law, Buddy & Diana Sowards of Peebles; two daughters and son in law Bonnie Sowards of Peebles, Shirley & Mike Thompson of Peebles; one sister and brother in law, Lanie & Yo Hilderbrand of Indiana; three sisters-in-law, Mickey Green of Sinking Spring, Nancy Green of Indiana, Wilma Green of Sinking Spring; five grandchildren, Shay, Cortnee, MaCade, Zach, Katelyn and two great grandchildren, Sylvia & Sawyer and special friends, Sara & Terry.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring with Greg Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in the Washburn Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 11:00 AM till service time at 1:00 PM at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
