Karl Ison, 74 years of Latham, passed away on Saturday April 26, 2014 at his residence.
He was born in Scioto County on May 26, 1939, the son of the late Cecil and Gladys May Ison. Besides his parents he was preceded by two sons Shannon Ray Ison and Carl Lee Ison, five brothers Donald, Ray, Leonard, Cecil Jr. and Charles Ison and three sisters Dottie Hannah, Betty Lou Irvin and Brenda Rhoads.
Karl was a retired bus driver for Western Latham school district, a Mifflin Township Trustee for over 20 years, served in the U.S. Marines, was a member of the AMVETS and a lifelong farmer and timber man.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Leeth Ison, whom he married on October 17, 1959, son and daughter-in-law Danny and Lori Ison of Latham, daughter and son-in-law Sandra Kay and Jim Helton of Waverly, seven grandchildren Joshua Dan Sara Ison, Dr. Janell Dawn John Turner, Chelsea Nicole Ison, Donielle Marie Ison, Cynthia Darlene Ison, Kourtnie-Sue Shantal Ison and Angel Marie Tylor Wallace and five great grandchildren, Bailey, Mea, Madison, Chloie and Thaxton.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday April 29, 2014 at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring. Burial will follow at the Washburn Cemetery with Military Rites by the Pike County Honor Guard.
Friends may call at 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home.
