Senior Airman Klayton Tyler Maynard, 25 years of Hillsboro, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 in Tuscon, AZ., while serving our Country in the U.S. Air Force. Tyler was born July 14, 1993 in Wilmington, OH., to the loving parents, Klayton R. and Tina (Crites) Maynard of Hillsboro, Ohio. His siblings are Ashli, Jayme and Kole Maynard of Hillsboro and the loving grandson of Larry and Carol Maynard of Hillsboro, Hal (Nancy) Crites of Wilmington and Julie Hawk of Sabina; uncles and aunts, Kyle and Suzy Maynard of Hillsboro, Kris and Cindy Maynard of Dacula, GA and Bobby Crites of Wilmington; several cousins and a host of friends.
Tyler was a graduate of Hillsboro High School Class of 2012. Tyler was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
On August 6, 2013, Tyler enlisted in the United States Air Force. After completing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, TX., he continued on to Sheppard Air Force Base for technical training. There he received the knowledge and skills that molded him into an Aircraft Armament Systems specialist. After training completion, he departed for his first assignment at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, AZ. His journey began as a Weapons Lad Crew Member, from there; he was deployed to Europe for Operation ATLANTIC RESOLVE. Upon returning home, his continued excellence was crucial in laying the foundation for yet another contingency operation where he readied 7 aircraft gun systems in preparation for Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. His journey then took him to Armament Flight, part of the 355th Equipment Maintenance Squadron. Additionally, he was key to the improvement of maintenance practices, assisting our Air Force Engineering and Technical Services personnel on improving 6 technical orders for use by weapons technicians Air Force wide.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the convenience of the family at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Staff Sergeant Jacob Curran will provide comforting words for the family. Military Rites will be provided by the WPAF Honor Guard.
