Lamon Phillips, age 98 of Winchester, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Eagle Creek Nursing Center.
He was born in Blounty County, Alabama on December 17, 1915 the son of the late Julus and Ethel (Self) Phillips.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters, Garnett Montjano and Joanne Kidder; and two sisters, Kathryn Jenkins and Hilda Wolford.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie (Calderwood) Phillips of Winchester; two sons, Arnold Phillips of Seaman and Lamon Phillips of Tennessee; five daughters, Betty Phillips of Cherry Fork, Kathryn York of Tennessee, Patty Webb of Pennsylvania, Shirley Vogt of Tennessee, and Julene Nesbitt of Winchester; 29 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with Dave Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
