Lavon Bailey, 91 years of Peebles, died Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at the Adams County Hospital in West Union.
He was born in West Union, Ohio on December 18, 1910 the son of the late Jesse and Bessie Redman Bailey.
He was a member of the Church of the Brethren of Marble Furnace, Peebles Lions Club, and Peebles Sportsman Club. He was a graduate of West Union High School in 1930. He was a Sunday School Superintendent. He was owner of the Western Auto Store, and he also worked at Wrights Hatchery.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Puckett.
He is survived by his wife, Burneda Storer Bailey, who he married on November 4, 1937, two sons and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jean Bailey of Rising Sun, Indiana, Dean Bailey of Peebles, two sisters, Gladys Jackson of Bentonville, Pollie Hilterbran of Trotwood, two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with Wayne Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Marble Furnace Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home with Lions service held at 7:30 P.M.
