Mr. Wetzel of Hillsboro, died Monday, January 17th at Highland District Hospital, from complications with leukemia, which he had been battling for sometime.

He was born in West Middletown, 7 December 1928, son of the late Linley and Kathleen E. Barker Wetzel.

He is survived by his wife, Welthea Ann Gill whom he wedded 6 June 1970, his sister and brother-in-law, June and John Gilmore of Middletown, Ohio; their children: Skip and wife Sheila of Montana, and Mike of Colorado. He is also survived by former wife, Janice Kash of Middletown, Ohio, and their daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Randy Netherly of Columbus, Ohio; grandson Adam Christopher Rothman of Alpharetta, Georgia; granddaughters, grandsons-in-law, and great granddaughters: Stacey, Rick, and Ashley Horn of Brookville, Indiana, Kristie, John, and Brooklyne of the Cincinnati, Ohio area, former son-in-law David Dillon of Middletown, Ohio; the girls mother Kathy, an uncle, Eldon Hodie who was married to the late Freda Barker and cousin Judith Retsema of Clarksville, Ohio; an aunt, Ethel Robert Wetzel Wetzel of Middletown, Ohio. Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: James Gill of Lexington, KY and his children James and Brittany; Sharon and Bobby Verrett, their children Steven Deborah Verrett, and Amanda of Marrero, LA; Roger and Cindy Gill, their children Jeff, Nikki, and Fred; John David and Lynn Gill of West Wego, LA; Emma Condrey and friend Tom Cox of Hillsboro, Ohio; father-in-law John Gill, his wife, Susan and their children Ronald, Donald and Krisstinna, of Hamilton, Ohio; and mother-in-law Maud Smith of Elizabeth City, NC, besides numerous cousins.

Mr. Wetzel worked at Sorg Paper Mill, Frigidaire, and Allied Chemicals before opening his own business as a service station operator and automotive mechanic in the Middletown area. He and his wife moved to Hillsboro in 1975 where they operated Wetzel?s Garage until his retirement in 1987. Much of his life, though was spent working as a farmer, which he enjoyed most. He and the family were much blessed to have the friendship of the John and Pauline Wilson family, Eddie and Betty Graves, and neighbors Lee and John, JL and Dianne Thompson and daughter Tia, Mike and Dee Brown, Jim and Lois Higgins, Allan and Ida Hunt, the employees of Highland Enterprise and Hedges Plumbing, and with much gratitude to Dr. ?Gina? Melink and all of her out-standing staff.

The pastors, Mike Brown and Allan Hunt will jointly officiate at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home; visitations will be Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. with funeral services at 2:00 P.M. with burial to follow at the Mount Zion Cemetery.
