Lucille Mason, 97 years of Hillsboro, passed away on Thursday April 9, 2015 at the Crestwood Nursing Home.
She was born in Highland County on February 27, 1918, the daughter of the late John and Bertha Mae (Washburn) Vanzant. Besides her parents she was also preceded by her husband Ronald Mason on May 4, 1987, daughter Barbara Higham, great grandson Brian Kelly, great great grandson Beau Stanforth-Davis,grandson-in-law, Todd Orr, three brothers, Wilbur Vanzant, Ralph Vanzant and Clayton Vanzant, and two sisters, Lora Daugherty and Evelyn M. Rittenhouse.
Lucille was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, retired in 1990 from the Highland District Hospital after 23 years of service, was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved farm life and loved to cook; making many pies in her life.
Lucille is survived by her four daughters, Mary Jane (Tom) Stephens of Hillsboro, Janet (Meredith) Chaney of Hillsboro, Linda (Tom) Hogsett of Sevierville, TN and Sharon (Nick) Bare of Hillsboro, ten grandchildren; Lora (Bill) Kelly, Ann (Jim) Holladay, Cindy (Jeff) Suit, Jody (Greg) Mootz, Bill (Maggie) Stanforth, Tammy (Jack) Vance, Amy Dodds, Jill (John) Wyatt, Chris Dodds and Craig (Amanda) Couser, 24 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday April 12, 2015 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery will John Porter officiating.
Friends may call at 1:00 P.M. until time of service on Sunday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
