Mabel K. Murphy, 101 years of Hillsboro, died Sunday, May 11, 2003 at her residence.
She was born in Highland County, Ohio on February 21, 1902 the daughter of the late John and Rose Fox Murphy.
She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and Wilmington College. She retired in 1967 from Hillsboro City Schools after forty-six years of teaching fourth and fifth grades. She was a member of the Hillsboro First Presbyterian Church and the National and Ohio Retired Teachers Association.
Beside her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles E. Murphy.
She is survived by her sister, Opal Murphy of Hillsboro, niece, Barbara Griffith of Seattle, Washington, nephew, Charles Murphy of Seattle, Washington, great nephews, David Griffith of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, Bob Griffith of Fairbanks, Alaska, great niece, Beth Matthies of Indianapolis, Indiana, one great great nephew, and four great great nieces.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hillsboro Cemetery with Steve Matthies officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
