Major Chester Chet Bradford, 86 years of Winchester, died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at Ohio Valley Manor in Ripley.
He was born in Winchester, Ohio on April 25, 1918 the son of the late Frank W. and Anna Louise Porter Bradford.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and retired after 25 years from the Army. He landed at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Cherry Fork United Presbyterian Church, charter member of the Morris-Baldridge American Legion Post #583 in Cherry Fork, F.&A.M. Lodge #236 in Winchester, and the Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite. He worked for ABCAP and the unemployment office in West Union and Batavia.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Bradford, who passed away in 2000, one brother, and two sisters.
He is survived by two sons, Don Bradford of Santa Monica, California, Jack Bradford of West Union, sister, Grace Roebuck of Cincinnati, two grandchildren, Michael Bradford and Amanda Bradford, two great grandchildren, India Jane Bradford and Ian James Bradford, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 16, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bradford-Sullivan Funeral Home in Winchester with Rev. Dan Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Fork Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Sunday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Bradford-Sullivan Funeral Home with Masonic service at 7:30 P.M. Sunday.
