Marcus W. Taylor, a proud and esteemed member of the community, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024, at the age of 75. Marcus was born on May 11, 1948, in Ohio, where he spent his formative years and built a life filled with love, dedication, and service.

With a deep love for his country, Marcus enlisted in the United States Army on April 15, 1968. He served with honor and distinction during the Vietnam War, diligently fulfilling his duties until his honorable discharge on November 19, 1969. Marcus rose to the rank of SP4 (T), showcasing his dedication and commitment to his fellow servicemen and his nation.

Following his military service, Marcus returned to his beloved hometown of Peebles, OH. He pursued his passion for automobiles and became a highly regarded General Motors employee, showcasing his mechanical prowess and dedication to his work. Marcus was known for his strong work ethic and his genuine desire to help others, which endeared him to colleagues and customers alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Marcus was a loving husband to his devoted wife, Helen Taylor. Their enduring partnership spanned many decades, filled with memories of shared joys, challenges, and unwavering support. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home for their family. Besides his wife, he is also preceded by his parents, William and Katie Evelyn (Jackson) Taylor and son, Gregg Taylor; 2 brothers, Eugene and James Taylor; 3 half brothers J.W. Jackson, Don Jackson, Woodson Jackson; 2 half sisters Belle Jackson and Marie Pearl Jackson

Marcus's love extended to his beloved son, Timothy Wilson of FL, daughter, Kimberly (Carlton) Miller of Durham, N.C., daughter-in-law, Krista Jo (Leisure) Taylor of Washington C.H., grandchildren, Corey (Elizabeth)Taylor of Washington C.H., Kevin Taylor of New Holland, OH, Miranda Taylor of Washington C.H., Anna Elizabeth Miller of Dunham, N.C., Daniel Miller of Asheville, N.C., Stephen Miller of Charlotte, N.C., Andrew Miller of Durham, N.C., Tiffany Wilson of Dayton, OH and Timmy Wilson of Dayton, OH; great grandchild, Penelope Taylor of Washington C.H., half brother Forest "Buddy" Jackson; nieces, nephews, cousins and host of friends.

In his spare time, Marcus found solace and reflection in nature. He enjoyed exploring the great outdoors, seeking peace and tranquility in the beauty that surrounded him. Marcus had an exceptional ability to appreciate the simple joys of life, finding happiness in the company of loved ones and the beauty of his surroundings.

Graveside Services will be 2:30pm on Saturday February 3, 2024 at the Olive Branch Cemetery in Sinking Spring with military rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.

Thompson Funeral Home has the honor of serving the family.

Marcus W. Taylor will forever be remembered for his selflessness, loyalty, and dedication to his family, his country, and his community.
