Margaret M. ?Barney Beaver? Arnold, 99 years of Ft. Myers, Florida, formerly of Hillsboro, died Friday, May 9, 2003 at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers.
The only child of Carey and Gertrude Burnett Beaver, she was born in Highland County on January 22, 1904.
Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joe Arnold in 1984, step daughter Nora Hood, step son Bill Arnold, step grandson Steve Arnold, step great grandson Bruce Arnold.
Barney graduated from Hillsboro High School in the Class of 1923, received a B.S. in Music from Wilmington College and retired in 1965 after 26 years of service, teaching 7 years in the Loveland and Maderia School Systems, 13 years in the Greenfield School District, 6 years in Highland County Schools. She was a member of the Rainsboro United Methodist Church, National and Ohio Retired Teacher?s Association, Highland County Senior Citizens, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and was the 1985 Women of the Year in Highland County.
She is survived by a step son Eck Arnold of Sun City, Florida, five step grandchildren, Joe and John Hood, Kay Ogden, Tom and Dennis Arnold, several step great grandchildren and cousins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Robert Watts will officiate with burial following in the Beaver Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
