Maria Pentheselia Oliveros Otey, 13 years of Leesburg, passed away on Sunday December 29, 2013 at the Highland District Hospital.
She was born in Hillsboro on May 10, 2000, the daughter of Kevin L. and Marcosa Oliveros Otey. Besides her parents she is survived by her paternal grandmother Patsy Knisley of Hillsboro, maternal grandmother Carolina Oliveros of Toronto, Ontario, Special grandparents Kent and Betty Turner of Hillsboro, two sisters Karlee Otey of Blanchester and Kathryn Otey of Lynchburg and several uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded by her paternal grandfather William Otey and maternal grandfather Honorato Oliveros.
Maria was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hillsboro, an eighth grader at Fairfield Middle School, where she was a cheerleader, played volleyball, soccer, ran track and was involved with the Pep-Squad.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Saturday January 4, 2014 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hillsboro, Father Mike Paraniuk will be the celebrant. Burial will follow at Samantha Methodist Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday January 2, 2014 and from 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. Friday January 3, 2014 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
